Yeah, there's something fishy about that.

http://www.livejournal.com/go.bml?itemid=10000000&dir=prev will take you to entry #9944158, but http://www.livejournal.com/go.bml?itemid=9944158&dir=next will take you to entry #9999999 and give you a protected entry error. Is this "skipped entry" a bug report, BTW? :p

Ah, but I've only ever messed around with the MySQL/Apache/PHP trio.. afraid you'll need someone with more programming experience to handle that. ;)
