Сказал раби Иоси: Всю мою жизнь я не знал покоя из-за этого стиха в Торе (Второзаконие 28:29): “И ты будешь ощупью ходить в полдень, как слепой ощупью ходит впотьмах” — какая разница слепому, мрак ли вокруг или свет?! Пока не случилось однажды, что шел я ночью в кромешной тьме и увидел слепого, который шел по дороге, держа в руке горящий факел. “Сын мой, — спросил я его, — зачем тебе этот факел?” Ответил он мне: “Все время, пока факел в моей руке, люди видят меня и спасают меня от ям и колючек” (Вавилонский Талмуд, трактат Мегила, 24бет).
