Yeah well, I like my choice better... the more famous one is too showy, and Byrne's play is much weaker there.

well, it's a different byrne, but his play in the game you chose is just atrocious and fischer's combination is not spectacular at all... any half-decent player would have come up with it. not a great game by any measure.

Bobby was living in New York City as a teenager and playing chess at an amazingly high level. He was also, clearly, a mentally troubled young man, and many of his chess playing friends noticed the instability as well as the genius. A number of friends convened a meeting and discussed taking up a collection to try to get Bobby some professional psyciatric help, which it was clear he needed even then. The meeting is going along, and most agree to encourage Bobby to get help.

Towards the end of the meeting, someone asks "What if Bobby gets well and stops playing good chess?" The meeting then breaks up and nothing ever came of it.

Если бы на meetingе были люди, действительно озабоченные состоянием человека - ответ был бы "His mental health is more important than his current professional aspirations. And I am not even starting on the validity of the premise of that assumption".

Я играл в шахматы до 12 лет. Средне играл, но любил. Потом начались необъяснимые головные боли (в миттельшпиле).

Щахматы - игра для компьютеров. Она не требует интеллекта, только хорошей памяти и интуиции, развитой на этой памяти.

Вообще, связь способности к какой-то определенной игре с интеллектом сильно преувеличена.
