old mothers propaganda team
A group of aged women organised and trained for promulgating Mao Tse-tung thought. In November 1968 an "old mothers" propaganda team was established by the troops stationed in Ch'engkuan Commune, Kwangtse county, Fukien province. The team consisted of women whose average age was 56 and who were trained in dancing, singing and opera. Whenever Mao issued a new directive, the team would assemble immediately to expound the directive by giving performances in these varied forms.
