(If America Should Go Communist, если есть варианты более удачного перевода заглавия - предлагайте, мне любопытно).
Сетевая версия.
"National industry will be organized along the line of the conveyor belt in your modern continuous-production automotive factories. Scientific planning can be lifted out of the individual factory and applied to your entire economic system. The results will be stupendous."
Здесь следует цинично усмехнуться и покивать головой: stupendous indeed!
"It is the task of your communist statesmen to make the system deliver the concrete goods that the average man desires: his food, cigars, amusements, his freedom to choose his own neckties, his own house and his own automobile. It will be easy to give him these comforts in Soviet America."
Ну и ещё много в том же духе. Вперёд, Советская Америка!

Date: 2001-12-15 09:55 pm (UTC)Actually, quite a few predictions of Trotsky's came true in the last 66 years. Operations Research flourished in the postwar years, used by companies from WalMart to Amazon.com to Levi Strauss. Farms are gigantic (or would have been without billions of government subsidies). The dollar is not backed by gold any more, with no harmful consequences to the economy.
Otherwise, even if I hadn't known, who Trotsky was, the piece strikes me as filthy demagogy. Where did he get that 20% figure? Did he pull it out of his ass?
