Под замком у американского френда я попытался сформулировать свое отношение к фильму Oldboy, но так и не смог что-то внятное сказать, кажется:

I've thought a lot about Oldboy ever since I saw it. "Intense", to me, doesn't even come close to describing its effect, but I remain divided, tending towards unfavourable, on how I think of that effect.

It was like a mental rape. My mind and my emotions were violated by Oldboy in ways I did not appreciate, and cannot really justify as having taught me something profound -- but on the other hand cannot dismiss as something gimmicky either.

Одно только знаю твердо - этот фильм¹ я пересматривать не буду.

¹ Не знаю, как по-русски хорошо передать конструкцию "this is one movie I'm not going to..."

По-моему, это лучше соответствует англ. "that's the kind of movie...".
