In his Spectator column he has defended his friend Jonathan Aitken[17] and has expressed qualified admiration for General Franco.[18] He has, on the other hand, criticized European countries, in particular France, for being undemocratic [19]

Так что, прочитать я его, пожалуй, прочитаю, наконец, в первоисточнике: похоже - полезно и интересно, но некоторые априорные сомнения в том что это - The Book все же имеются...
Угу, спасибо за пояснения, попробую почитать :) Насчёт Франко, как раз, не знаю... В Российской, к примеру, новейшей историографии есть такая тенденция - характеризовать Сталина как личность "неоднозначную", большие заслуги, то да сё... Не знаю как испанцы сами относятся к Франко (по-моему - не очень), но не исключено что подобные спокойные рассуждения о заслугах генерала по сути (и бессовестности) мало отличаются от описаний сталинских великих побед и отдельных досадных просчётов. Правда не знаю.
