Of course I'm making an assumption

Here's the data. Among dozens people I personally know who came at about the same time with me (and their children), 100% who got to the Managing Director level are women.

Of course, it can be explained alternatively. For example, the women are simply more talented. Or, maybe, women born in Leningrad are more talented than than men born there (as these comprise the bulk of the population of my acquaintances). All possible but their superior talents somehow didn't manifest in any way back in SU: not in schools or colleges, nor Olympiads etc. It's only when they got industry jobs it turned out that they have superior managerial talents. Could be. But I'm assuming what seems to be the simplest and most credible of possible assumptions.

A recent example. We had a whole team fired in our department. A bunch of useless mofos (personal opinion) who should never have been hired in the first place. New big cheese came on board and figured it out in just a year of time. So, I like I said, they were let go, except for one person out of 8. Purely coincidentally, it was also the only woman on the team. But I'm assuming again.

ok, so in your personal experience it appears as if women are both promoted above merti, and spared when the ax comes down.

i can believe your sampling but won't extrapolate.
