Сегодняшнее новое для меня слово: sawbuck. Означает 10-долларовую бумажку, или козлы для пилки дров.

P.S. OED говорит, что первое значение появилось потому, что скрещённая форма козлов похожа на букву X -- римская десятка.

Это нормально, я тоже его сегодня обнаружил на одном веб-форуме, где один американец его использовал, а другой заметил, что никогда не слышал.

Наверное, региональный сленг, что-нибудь южное или среднезападное.

I don't think it's regional (Wentworth & Flexner doesn't mark it as such) so much as generational -- it hasn't been in current use for decades, so unless you're a codger, were exposed to outdated slang in your youth, or are an aficionado of Hammett/Chandler-style hardboiled fiction, you probably haven't heard of it. I've been familiar with it as long as I can remember, but then I fall into more than one of the above categories.
