Стоило прочитать это интервью (англ., не пропустите ссылку на вторую страницу внизу) с переводчиком Рембо на английский, хотя бы ради того, чтобы узнать замечательное новое слово kerfuffle. Но и кроме этого слова там немало интересного — о Рембо, Набокове, Борхесе, Уитмане и буквальном переводе.

Вот ещё особенно интересный отрывок, с которым я не совсем согласен, но тем не менее:

While no one sensible would argue that Hemingway didn't put as much thought and craft into his style as Faulkner did, translating Hemingway would be a hell of a lot easier. Translation is basically close reading, and Hemingway is an easier read than Faulkner (which is, of course, not a comment on their relative artistic merits). All translation requires a dedication to meaning, but to get a Michon or Rimbaud right requires an extra engagement to the musical qualities of their language.
